Close the Gate!

My parents took all their kids on a weekend vacation to Winslow Arizona. I am so grateful for my parents, thanks again, you guys are the best! We had a great weekend there. First we stopped at a place called Rock Art Ranch. It is a privately owned ranch with tons of petroglyphs covering the canyon walls in some areas. The man who owns the 7000 acres is the nicest, and he greeted us with his granddaughter who took the kids on horse rides. They are the nicest people!

We had a picnic on a ramada they built over the canyon, and then climbed down and crossed the river to see all the petroglyphs. The bridge was pretty rickety, and the river was really high, but all the two year olds made is across safely in their parents arms!

Down in the canyon it was beautiful and amazing to see all the drawings! We all had fun throwing rocks in the river, somehow that is just fun, don't know why!

This was the funniest petroglyph, its called the 'Birthing Wall'. See the big figure with a little figure coming out of it? Yeah, pretty graphic, right? (be sure to look for the fine details, ha!)

This one is called 'Cinderella'. It was cool to see all the different styles of drawing, it was obvious that more than one Native American tribe had been to this spot, obviously a source of water.

Here is my favorite petroglyph, I think the artist of this one was a Picasso in his own time.

After Rock Art Ranch, we stayed in Winslow at the La Posada. Winslow is obviously a boom and bust town, kinda an eclectic and ghetto place. The La Posada is a beautiful and artsy resort that used to be a train station. They still have trains that come through the property. There were so many beautiful places in their gardens etc to take pictures. Here are a couple.

Waiting for the train ..... and PaPaw is getting the pennies we put on the track to smash.
Is that legal?

Rachel, Jared and family were here for a week, during Spring Break. We had tons of fun just playing at Mamaw's house, going to museums, visiting the train park, and seeing the Morrow clan (always one of my favorite things to do). It was fun to have all the kids together for once. Including the two new sweet little girls, Maren and Mya. They are only 11 days apart. (I know, I missed the deadline!)

We had a great week, and can't wait to see everyone again, hopefully soon!!!

Really fun pictures. Emmy is such a cutie. The birthing wall is somethin' else, and speaking of which you look great. Good luck with the home stretch.

Isn't it funny how much things change. Fifteen years ago you hated your sisters, now they are your best friends...I guess our moms were right when they said, "one day your sisters will be your closest friends."
